Woven Wineworks Launches Pop-Up Series as Multi-Sensory Journey
Locally owned, family vineyard launches “Woven Wine Bar” as a monthly pop-up to promote boutique wine label.
PORTLAND — May 9, 2017 Woven Wineworks is proud to announce a new pop-up series will launch Friday, May 19, during Oregon Wine Month. The multi-sensory driven “Woven Wine Bar” will open from 5pm to 9pm every third Friday of the month May through August. Each of the four events will focus on different sensory themes relating to wine:
- May 19 – Taste (Celebrate the flavors of Oregon)
- June 16 – Hear (Discover new notes)
- July 21 – See (Enrich your palate)
- Aug 18 – Smell (Empower your sense of smell)
The series will take place in the Tasting Room at CELLAR 503 in Johns Landing; located at 4407 SW Corbett Ave. Wine will be for sale to enjoy by the taste, glass, or bottles to go. Events will be open to adults 21 and over.
Each month a selection of wines will be highlighted with farm-to-table pairing. For May, the menu has been thoughtfully designed in collaboration with Crave Family Farms & Catering. Featured items include Pacific Northwest Steelhead, local proteins, and seasonal vegetables grilled and smoked over grapevine clippings from vineyard.
Local artisan cheeses will be accompanied by grape jelly made from the fruit of last year’s harvest as well as honey from the hive on the farm. A collection of herbs will be gathered fresh from the garden and served along select wines that will also be incorporated into food preparations.
The venue, located on the second floor of a historic home built in the 1890’s, features an elegant copper wine bar constructed of reclaimed wood as well as a 1,000 square foot outdoor space. The large patio offers a myriad of cozy spots for guests to taste, hear, see and hear the spirit of sustainable grape farming mixed with innovative winemaking.
The family plans to weave in a variety of local artisans, craft makers, and musicians throughout the series. Weather permitting; a small bonfire seasoned with grape wood and Pinot potpourri will set the stage by offering guests the opportunity to roast Pinot noir marshmallows on vines.
“We believe memorable wine is made with passion and comes from the heart. Since the inaugural Pinot noir in 2012 our family has remained dedicated to delivering delicious wines that are made with love from extraordinary fruit.
We’re looking forward to sharing our story with the local community over the next few months. It has always been our hope that our wines will ultimately bring people together, cultivate stronger communities, provoke storytelling, and inspire the celebration of life. With this particular project we want to provide a memorable and sensational way for people to explore some of the joy we’ve bottled over the past four years,” explains Elaina Spring, Co-Owner.
The upcoming event will feature guest winemaker Kevin Green, owner of La Randonnée Wines who will be onsite with his wife Clodagh to share their newly released 2016 Oregon Sauvignon Blanc as well as their award winning 2015 and 2014 Pinot noirs.
The pop-up series will kick-off with a launch party for Viticulture/Enology students, industry guests, members of the trade, and media. The hosted reception will take place from 3:30pm to 5pm on May 19th. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the guest list.
